Educating Today's Child For Tomorrow

Home Learning

Children will be provided with a Home Learning Book (beige in colour) where they should stick and complete their homework. This should be returned to school on a Wednesday and will be sent home on Friday. We will mark Arithmetic and Comprehension exercises together in class.

Reading

Children should read to or with an adult at least five times a week and have it recorded in their Reading Record. We welcome your comments surrounding what they have enjoyed, what they found tricky and any new learning.

If children read independently at home, they can still record it in their Reading Record.

Spelling

Each week, children will be given a group of words that they need to learn. These will be stuck into the homework books by the children. The word list will also be uploaded to the website. In order to demonstrate understanding, each word needs to be written in a sentence. Ideally, pupils should be practising every night. We have also provided spelling activities (Spelling Bingo*) in the front cover of the Home Learning book to choose from, that will help children to embed and retain each word. Children will be tested on their spelling words every Thursday and new ones set on a Friday.

Times Tables

Pupils should be practising their times tables every day using Times Tables Rock Stars. Login details can be found in the Reading Record.

Every week, both an English and Maths task will be set on a Friday and must be completed by Wednesday.
