Educating Today's Child For Tomorrow

Our Federation Parent's Association

Welcome to the Parent's Association page which hopefully will let  you know of just some of the ways our parents can work together to enhance, promote, develop and extend the possibilities that exist for our children during their time at our schools.

Our Parent's Association play a VERY active part in the life of both of our Bushey Federation Schools and over the last few years they have been able to help develop lots of new & exciting projects and experiences for families and children at both our schools.

We hope that during your time at the schools you will enjoy our events. Our BIG events are the Fireworks Event as part of our Winter Fair and our Summer Fair, both of which have proved in the past to be our biggest fundraisers and are always well attended and supported by families at our schools. The Fireworks event is a recent addition to the PA calendar and ensures that our Winter Term School Fair really does go off with a bang!

During the last few years, our Parent's Association has been able to help fund the complete refurbishment of the library at Bushey Manor (which is a thing of BEAUTY), with a major financial outlay in the purchase new books AND a substantial investment in the ICT infrastructure at the schools which included the purchase of a set of 30 chrome books for EVERY year group in both schools. This has helped to place our schools as innovative and creative spaces, that can now actively and readily utilise technology to support our teachers with learning and assessment.

As well as these flagship projects which promote and secure good results and outcomes in our schools, the Parent's Association also contributes routinely to developing and upgrading playground equipment, funding an annual visit from a theatre company to both schools, financial support towards residential school trips, purchase of school materials & resources to enhance curriculum learning, and currently we are looking to develop our music studio at Bushey Manor Junior School.

The Parent's Association make a significant contribution to the whole school community and the culture of mutual and cohesive support between our parent body and the schools, which is a real area of strength in these very special local schools. The children enjoy parties and events with none other than Mr Marvel and fundraising initiatives such as 'Crazy Hair Day' are always greatly enjoyed by the children. We know that we are fortunate to have such dedicated parents playing such an active part in school life and working hard to make a real difference to our children lives as they move up through both schools.

There is always lots to do and we welcome any support; from ideas and planning, marketing, matched funding, corporate volunteer days to running a stall, painting faces or making cakes. The more people that volunteer their skills and time to the event, the more money we will raise to benefit the school, and the more experiences we can offer the children to better enhance and enjoy their journey through the primary school years.

The PA team is made up of parents with children who currently attend Bushey & Oxhey Infants and Bushey Manor Juniors. Being a member of the Parent's Association, particularly in a position of responsibility at the committee level, is hard work but it is also very rewarding and enjoyable. If you are a parent or carer of a child at the school, and would like to become a member then please give your name to the School Office and come along to our AGM in the first half term each school year, where we will be happy to see you. Alternatively if you would like to help at events then please put your name on our helpers list.  If you have wisdom and skills to impart about how we can maximise our fundraising and income streams for the school, then we would REALLY love to hear from you.

Helping the Parent's Association is very rewarding, and being part of it gives parents a chance to give something back to the schools that do so much for our children.  Any time, skills, experience or volunteering you can give us will be greatly appreciated, as the saying goes ‘Many hands make light work’.
