Educating Today's Child For Tomorrow

Week 5: 10.05.2021

This week we have been learning:

English

-We started the week by looking at features of an explanation text.

-We then wrote our own explanation text about 'The Life Cycle of a Butterfly'.

Maths

-This week we have continued to work on our reasoning skills.

-In particular we have been looking at reasoning problems involving doubling, halving, addition and subtraction.

-Red class have been thinking of techniques to help decode what a problem is asking them.

Science

-Red class recapped over previous learning and reminded themselves of the life cycle of a butterfly to aid their writing.

-We then finally got around to planting our cress following on from our investigation we planned.

-The investigation involves finding the best environment for plants to grow.

PHSE

-We have been thinking about Mental Health Awareness week and what 'mental health' means.

-The children have designed posters to share with other children of where you can go or who you can talk to if you are feeling sad, angry or anxious.

We had the pleasure of attending the Floella Benjamin Event. The children in Red class had the opportunity to listen to Floella share her own experiences of coming to England. The children then imagined they themselves were going on a long journey and what they would pack to go with them.
