Educating Today's Child For Tomorrow

Week 8

A very busy week after the half term break saw children completing their Bikeability cycling proficiency. Well done to all who received their certificates.

Much of the learning in Guided reading and English was centred around World War 1. The children learnt about how the war started before reading a range of poems. This fed into the English lessons where the children learnt about the structure of cinquian poems. They used vocabulary from In Flanders Fields by Lieutenant-colonel John McCrae to create their own cinquian poems which have now been displayed in the hall.

In Maths, the children revisited learning around factors and have used factor bugs to deepen their understanding. This highlights the importance of using Timestable rockstars to rehearse timestable facts as the children need to secure their knowledge of which two factors multiply together to make a multiple.

In History, the children continued their learning about the Greek Olympics and researched 4 key areas including preparations for the games.
