We always adhere fully to the dates for the school year and holidays as prescribed by Hertfordshire County Council. Sometimes these dates do not align with schools in our neighbouring London Boroughs or with other local schools. 

Some local Academies and Church schools may follow different dates and we are aware that many are now having a two week half term break in October. We understand that parents who are teachers in other schools may have conflicting term time and holiday dates.  However, the expectation for school holidays for children in our federation schools to be taken ONLY within the holiday dates outlined below remains statutory for everyone. 

We determine dates for our own INSET days and for one occasional day. Both our schools are also designated Polling Stations, but in the case of the Infant School ONLY, and with the limitations we have to work with due to the size of that site, this necessitates the closure of the Infant school, should it be requisitioned by the council for their electoral requirements. 

We publish our dates at least two years in advance, so parents can more easily make arrangements for holidays and ensure these are not taken during term time.

INSET days are tagged onto existing school holidays to minimise any disruption for our families.

 *INSET (In Service Training) days were introduced by the Government in 1988 and are five days taken during the school year, where staff carry out important Continued Professional Development (CPD) OR are given time to carry out planning, administrative tasks or training in order to support the progress and development of our staff and school. On these five days, the schools are closed to children.
