Educating Today's Child For Tomorrow

Week 11: 18th November

Last weekend was not a quiet one as BBC news got in touch with me about a possible sighting in our class playground. They sent over a picture and we were all shocked to see what they had a photograph of.

The children were so excited and immediately wanted to investigate. As we exited the classroom we saw some very large footprints. The children loved running round to see what they could find. They found an egg!

We brought the egg inside and have been looking after it every since. On Thursday lunch time we noticed a crack in the egg. Then Friday a Triceratops hatched from the egg. The children have loved being part of this week and it has provided so much talk about the egg and dinosaurs.

In writing we have been drawing and labelling dinosaurs. We have practised using initial sound and ending sounds in our writing.

In Maths we have been thinking about parts of numbers. We have been using numicon to break up numbers into parts. This will help us when we thinking about adding two parts together next week.

Thank you to all the parents who could come to our Phonics workshop. I know it was a lot of information but I hope you found it useful. I have attached the powerpoint on our class home page for you to look through again.

This week we have been doing lots of Nativity practise. The children have begun to learn their lines really well and are acting their lines out. If costumes could be in on Monday that would be brilliant. If you are having any problems finding items please let me know as soon as possible and we can try and help you.

Have a lovely weekend
