Educating Today's Child For Tomorrow

Week 4: 03.05.21

This week in Orange class we have been continuing our learning around our class caterpillars.

We have enjoyed doing lots of caterpillar and butterfly art using paints, colouring pens and pencils and pastels. We have also been writing some descriptive sentences to describe our caterpillars and looking at the changes that are happening.

We also looked at ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ book again and decided to think about what we would eat if we were a caterpillar for a day. We discussed a list format and have been using that to write our creative ideas down.

In maths this week we have been recapping our previous learning about the seasons and the months of the year. We also continued to look at the days of the week, we explored how many days there are, the order of them, which ones are the weekdays and which are the weekends. This is one of the songs that we have been listening to to help us remember the names of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtQcnZ2JWsY

In Phonics we have been continuing to recap all of our digraphs, trigraphs and tricky words. Please keep recapping these with your children at home!

We have enjoyed celebrating and raising money for ‘Number day’. We have had lots of activities that included numbers and exploring them. We again looked at counting, odd and evens, one more and less and other ways to fully understand these numbers. This will really support us when we start to learn the ‘teen’ numbers.

Enjoy your weekend and see you for a full week of school!
