Educating Today's Child For Tomorrow

Week 2 - 14/06/21

This week in English, we continued looking at the book 'Billy's Bucket'. Yellow class thought about what could be in their bucket and we focused on using interesting vocabulary and adjectives. They wrote some fantastic descriptions of what they could see in their own buckets!

In maths this week, we looked at using arrays in division. We reminded ourselves of what an array is and we thought about how we could write division sentences for the arrays. Yellow class then used arrays to spot the link between multiplication and division.

In Art this week, we continued our learning about Barbara Hepworth and her sculptures. Yellow class used air dough and different tools to investigate and experiment with different marks they could make. They also used the tools to create holes in the air dough just like Barbara Hepworth did with her sculptures. Yellow class then went outside to look through their sculptures.

On Friday, Yellow class were very lucky to have a seaside workshop in the hall! They spent the morning creating different things related to the seaside including postcards, souvenirs and shell boxes. In the afternoon, they became stall holders at the seaside and then had their own pennies to spend at the seaside! They could visit the fish and chip shop, the souvenir shop and play games including hook a duck! We then ended the day by watching a Punch and Judy show. Yellow class had an amazing day!

Next week we are reading the book 'Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs' in English and in maths we are introducing fractions, looking at halves and quarters.

Have a lovely weekend.
