Red Class

Welcome to Red Class

A warm welcome from Mrs Longras and Mrs Bright, we are lucky to also have Mrs Wheeler with us every Friday morning.

We started our year discussing the idea of "Novice" and "Experts". This is a theme that will support Red class throughout the entire year. As a class, we are all starting our learning journeys at different points and these may vary within each subjects. We can all learn from our peers and each persons learning journeys will be unique. We start each Topic discussing what the children want to achieve to reach expert status and this helps to shape the lessons that are taught so that the children are fully integrated and responsible for their own learning.

Don't forget to check our class Twitter page for regular updates!

Mrs Longras – Red Class Teacher

After a decade working as a fashion and beauty Buyer, I decided to follow my heart and start on a new journey into teaching, doing something where I could really make a difference to future generations.

After completing my training at a small Faith school in Hillingdon, I was over the moon when an opportunity arose at Bushey and Oxhey Infants. Having lived in the Village for a number of years, I was used to seeing the smiling faces of the children of Bushey and Oxhey Infants bobbing past my window in their bright yellow uniforms on their way to and from school and knew that this was the place I wanted to work.

As a career changer, what I bring to the classroom is a practical knowledge of the skills that your children will need to develop in later life along with a passion for learning through fun and creative paths. They may have already told you about my constant singing in the classroom! My goal is to empower your children with the tools and knowledge to become independent and confident learners. I truly believe that every child is capable of amazing things.

On a personal note, I have a deep routed love of the Bushey area. My Grandmother was born in a house of Oxhey Avenue and continued to live there until her passing, at which point my brother purchased the house with his young family. My Mum was a local Headteacher for a number of years until she retired and I have lived in the Village for six years with my husband and young daughter.  If you see me at the local park or Bakers, please do come and say hello!

Mrs Bright – Teaching Assistant

Hello parents of Red Class. My name is Mrs Bright. I have had the privilege to be the Teaching Assistant to your children last year and I am excited to be spending another year with them.

I have been a Teaching Assistant at Bushey and Oxhey Infants for five years, but have been with the school for nine years as previously a Mid-Day Supervisor. Both of my children have attended this school so you can see, Bushey and Oxhey Infants School is extremely close to my heart.

My ethos is that every child should feel valued, unique and special and it is my job to help your children develop and grow into these confident and happy children I see developing daily. I work with the children in Red class by supporting their learning through daily reading and working with small groups to offer support.

You may also know me from my various clubs, such as after school “Lego Club” and “Bright Star Holiday Camps” on the school premises.

Outside of school, I love going to the theatre and comedy shows with my family. There is nothing better than getting together with my friends and loved ones for a Sunday Roast. You may even see me around the local area, if so please do give me a wave!

Mrs Wheeler - Class Teacher (Friday morning)

Hi, I'm Mrs Wheeler and I've worked at Bushey Federation for four years. I have been a teacher for many years, including in secondary schools and now I am very happy to be here at Oxhey Infants part time.

I particularly enjoy speaking Spanish and love teaching it whenever I get the opportunity.

In my spare time I love swimming, reading and going to the theatre.

What have we been up to this week?
