This week we have looked at another character the Jolly Postman meets - the giant! We have been focusing our learning on the story Jack and the Beanstalk.
In English we read the story and worked on sequencing the story in groups. We used the language first, next and then to retell the story. Over the week we acted on the beginning, middle and end of the story and used this to help us write the story. The children wrote the story over three days and did a fantastic job! I was particularly impressed with some of the interesting language which was used.
In Maths we have been looking at more and less and one more and one less. We have enjoyed playing games such as Can you guess the number? and our counting challenge. We then looked at numbers to 10. We put the in order on a number line and then thought about missing numbers. We finally looked at regrouping numbers into 2 parts.
In Science we started to look at animals and thinking about how we could sort them. The children worked in groups to find different ways to sort the animals.
In Phonics we looked at the 've' grapheme as an alternative to 'v'. We also looked at the final the final vowel sound for 'a' - a_e. We played a game where children had to work out which grapheme to use in each word.
In PE we have been working on throwing and catching skills and working together to pass the ball sensibly between two children.
Well done Purple class on another fantastic week - you are making me proud each and every day.
Next week in Science we are looking at the words amphibian, reptile, mammal, fish and bird. Why not over the weekend have a look at what animals fall in each of these categories?
Have a lovely weekend
