Orange Class

Welcome to Orange Class

Our class team is made up of...

          Miss Phillips (Class Teacher)

          Mrs Dunne (Early Years Practitioner)

Hello! I'm Miss Phillips...

This is my second year teaching at Bushey and Oxhey Infant School. I have always really enjoyed working in Reception classes.  I’ve had many opportunities to work in different schools and adapt my teaching based on all the Early Years approaches that I have seen. I think its amazing to see how much the children learn and adapt throughout the year as they grow in confidence.

I love being creative! Especially when I get a chance to spend some calm time drawing and colouring (which doesn't happen as often as I would like.) I love it when children feel confident enough to share all of their amazing creations with me.

My favourite books are those that explore emotions, feelings, and how to express ourselves. For this reason, one of my favourite authors is Tom Percival, his illustrations are perfect for explaining these complex themes in a child (and adult) friendly way!

My favourite colours (I just can't decide on one!) are purple and blue and of course everything looks better with a bit...or a lot... of glitter!

Working in Reception I get this question a lot, it’s possibly the most important piece of information you will learn about me. My favourite Disney princess is - drum roll please - Mulan! I know you will all rest easy now you know this fun fact.

Hello I’m Mrs Dunne...

This is my fifth year at Bushey and Oxhey Infant school, so I know the school well and have lots of experience in Early Years. I love working with young children in Reception, it’s so much fun as the children are so creative and enthusiastic to learn.

Before I worked in schools, I had a career in banking! This means that I LOVE numbers and shapes. I enjoy bringing my creative side into Maths to really engage the children in their learning.

I also enjoy junk modelling with the children, it is amazing to see the ideas and creativity that they come up with from a simple cereal box!

I love doing whole class reading, especially when the books are written by Julia Donaldson. My favourite book of hers is 'Room on the Broom', which is always a favourite among the children because of the fun and exciting rhymes.

I have two sons of my own and live locally. I enjoy baking and trying out new recipes, going for long walks (to burn off the cakes I make!) and looking after my three cats.

Some of my other favourite things include the colour purple, tigers, swimming and I am just starting to learn how to crochet (it was my lockdown hobby).
