In Maths, we have been cementing the fluidity of our learning of multiplication (and patterns of multiplication) by using arrays. We have also continued working on our reasoning skills by tackling more word problem. We are realising (slowly!) that it is not a skill to finish first, but rather, the skill is working methodically and logically to achieve the correct answer!

In English, we have continued our study of myths and have produced descriptive paragraphs using figurative language, including similes and metaphors. Ask your children the difference between the two! In addition, we have been looking at grammar and the distinctions between verbs, conjunctions, subjects and clauses. Write a sentence and ask your children to point out the differences!

In Science, we have been learning about the human skeleton. The children have labelled their own skeletons marking the main bones in the body. We will move on to animals, and those with endoskeletons and exoskeletons before ending our half term by building muscle models. How exciting!

In Geography, we continued our topic of 'global caretakers' by learning about how our environment is affected by climate change and what we are doing to cause it. We also discussed what steps we can take to reduce our carbon footprint so that our children can be guardians of the planet for their children and beyond. As the strapline goes, every little helps!
