Educating Today's Child For Tomorrow

Week Ending 02.10.20

In Maths, we studied subtracting numbers with 3 digits, firstly without re-grouping and then, to cement our learning, by regrouping. If you're not sure how to do it, ask your child to show you!

In English, we started our new topic of myths by studying Roman gods and goddesses, what they stood for and their relationships with each other. The children chose their favourite god or goddess and then wrote about why they had chosen that one in particular.  They then wrote a school report on what their god or goddess was good at and how they could improve. Much food for thought...

In Geography, we continued thinking about the effects of plastic pollution on the environment and what steps that we, as individuals, could take to help the situation. The children wrote a letter that they would wish to write to their MP setting out the problems together with a solution. We want every child to be thinking about, and taking seriously, their environment because, as we know, they are the future!

In Science, we studied what teeth are made of. We learnt that enamel is the hardest substance in the body and we discussed the practicalities of taking care of our teeth (and what happens if we don't!). To conclude our lesson, the children performed a role play in pairs, one being the dentist offering advice on dental hygiene and one being the patient. Remind your children of the lesson when they're about to eat sweets or are too tired to brush their teeth!
