Welcome to Reception 

We’re so excited to welcome you and your child to our school community and thank you for choosing us to be part of their very first steps into education. For many families, this is the start of an entirely new chapter, and we understand it can come with lots of questions. Don’t worry - our class pages are packed with useful information, and we’ll be here every step of the way to support you.

We’re also thrilled to introduce you to our two wonderful Reception classes: Green and Orange! While we enjoy some time in our separate groups for focused, adult-led learning, we also come together regularly for shared activities - creating a strong, happy sense of community where friendships flourish across both classes.

As a team, we pride ourselves in making Reception a warm and welcoming place to be. A place where all children feel happy and safe and can be themselves. Somewhere that they look forward to coming to each morning. We are passionate about getting to know the children as individuals, as well as a whole group and building positive relationships from day one.

Our Early Years curriculum is designed around learning through play, discovery, and active engagement - encouraging creativity, independence, and curiosity. At Bushey and Oxhey Infants, children are at the heart of everything we do. We tailor our bespoke curriculum to reflect the children’s interests, needs, and ideas - striking a balance between child-led curiosity and adult-led learning. Using our themed curriculum as a guide, we follow the children’s natural lines of enquiry, supporting them as they explore, discover, and make sense of the world around them.

Our Planning and Curriculum
