Educating Today's Child For Tomorrow

Week 8 - 02/11/20

This week we read a book called 'Mixed Up Fairy Tales' in English and we then created our own. We started by planning the characters, settings and something that would happen for our stories. We used characters such as Goldilocks, Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella. We created some fantastic stories including Goldilocks going to the gingerbread house and finding a troll. Yellow Class then wrote their stories and created their own 'flip flap' book so that all of their stories are mixed up. Yellow Class created some amazing mixed up fairy tales!

In phonics we have been looking at the 'oa' sound and others ways we can spell it ('ow' and 'oe'). We then recapped the spelling of some tricky words including he, be, me and my.

In maths, we have been looking at subtraction this week and how we can use different strategies to work it out. We used part whole models and number lines to work out the subtraction. On Thursday, we then used all the strategies we had learnt to show how we worked out the subtraction and how we can prove what the answer is.

In science, we learned about what different animals eat and the names for this - carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. We explored different pictures of animals and sorted them into groups depending on their diet.

This week in RE, we discussed what celebrations are and the different events that we all celebrate in Yellow Class. We found out that we all celebrate lots of different things! In PE, we started Pilates this week and Yellow Class did really well! We did lots of stretching and learnt about using our core to balance.

Next week, we will be started guided reading and we will be writing letters to Purple Class in English.

PE days are now every Wednesday and Thursday for this half term.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
